Park University Gilbert Director of Athletics Jeff Fore has announced the hiring of Arizona State University Goalkeeping Coach Kali Harmon as the fourth women’s soccer head coach in program history. Harmon was a finalist for the position last year but pulled her name out of consideration. Harmon replaces Jack Hartley who left to become an assistant coach at Division I Southeast Louisiana.
“I am extremely excited to have Kali Harmon lead our women’s soccer program,” said Fore. “She has a strong pedigree of developing student-athletes not only on the field, but in the classroom and in life. We are fortunate to have her lead our program.”
Harmon has been the goalkeeper coach at Arizona State for the past two seasons. Harmon assisted in the daily planning sessions, recruiting and development of the goalkeeping program. She also performed game day match analysis, including video analysis and opponent scouting reports.
Under Harmon’s tutelage, Sun Devil net minders posted a 0.89 goals against average in 2020 with five shutouts. In 2021, they posted a 1.59 GAA with three clean sheets as ASU posted 19 wins, four ties and a .568 winning percentage in those two seasons.
Harmon has also had assistant coaching stints at all levels including Southern Utah where she worked with Park Gilbert men’s head coach Jonas Tanzer, Benedictine University, Mesa Community College, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Mesa High School and the Arizona Olympic Development Program.
For seven years, Harmon was the Director of Goalkeeping at the Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club where she had over 20 goaltenders move on to all levels of collegiate soccer. She developed the goalkeeping program which was comparable to the top ECNL and DA Clubs in the nation. She also developed the first specific goalkeeper specific strength and conditioning program in the state of Arizona. In addition, she also implemented curriculum for goalkeepers aged 8-18.
Harmon, who has a USSF D License, is also the owner, operator and goalkeeper director at Advantage Goalkeeping in Gilbert, Ariz. Over the past four years, Harmon has created a platform for youth goalkeepers to train on an equal platform regardless of club affiliation or demographic.
“I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to lead Park University Women’s Soccer Program,” said Harmon. “I look forward to working alongside our student athletes and to grow a culture of excellence on and off the pitch. I am honored to pick up where Coach Hartley left off and thankful for all the hard work he put in to build the foundation for Park women’s soccer to grow and build upon.”
