Heading into the final round of the Rocket Mortgage Classic on Sunday, the tournament seems like it’s a two-horse race between Tony Finau and Taylor Pendrith. Both golfers are 21 under and four clear of Cameron Young who sits in third at 17 under.
Pendrith and Finau put on a show playing in the final pairing on Saturday as they shot a best-ball 60 that included 15 birdies. If either of them comes close to replicating that performance in the final round then one of the two will almost certainly win the tournament. Finau is the favorite going into the finale and is coming off a win last week at the 3M Open, but Pendrith is third in the field from tee to green and first in putting. That’s normally a tough combination to overcome.
Hopefully the golf from that final pair is half as good as it was Saturday. If that’s the case, we’re in for a terrific final round with Finau and Pendrith attempting to hold off Young, Patrick Cantlay and a host of othersat Detroit Golf Club.
