NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State soccer has announced the additions of Edda Eiríksdóttir (Reykjavík, Iceland / Borgarholtsskóli HS) and transfer defender Cyerra Hibbert (Markham, Ontario / Garden City CC) to its 2022 signing class. Hibbert will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
“I am pleased to announce the signing of two more great additions to our Redbird Soccer program,” head coach Brad Silvey said. “We are fortunate to add both of these student-athletes into our program. We look forward to having them here with us throughout the spring as we build and refine our team moving forward.”
Eiríksdóttir and Hibbert join Audrey Brown (Merion Station, Pa. / Cincinnati), Sammi Cenek (Peoria, Ill. / Dunlap HS), Chaley French (Omaha, Neb. / Gretna HS), Hillary Griffin (Houston, Texas / Manvel HS), Kelsi McLaughlin (Greenfield, Ind. / Greenfield Central HS), Kate Nonn (Germantown, Wis. / Divine Savior Holy Angels HS), and Jade Rehberger (Fort Thomas, Ky. / Highlands HS), and Reece Zinkann (Scottsdale, Ariz. / Chaparral HS) in the team’s incoming student-athletes. - Team won cup competition in Iceland for 17-18 years old
- Awarded Friðriksbikarinn for showing good social skills and being a role model for teammates
- Won the Rey-Cup in 2017 and finished second place in the Icelandic championship for 15-16 years old
Silvey on Eiríksdóttir: “Edda specializes in the wide channel, either as a wingback or winger. She will bring a high level of experience and maturity that will immediately benefit our program. She is a composed and technical player that will help us build play and position us extremely well within our attacking efforts.”
