The Welsh county’s defeat by the Yorkshire Vikings at Cardiff on Wednesday – a year minus two days after the White Rose county had done the same at Sophia Gardens in 2021 – means that Glamorgan have slipped to fourth place in the group table, with Northamptonshire – after their dramatic collapse in Tuesday’s match with leaders Hampshire on the Isle of Wight – remaining one place behind in fifth spot.
The list below shows the last six meetings between Glamorgan and Northamptonshire in List A cricket, with the Welsh county winning their most recent encounter, last season, at the Wantage Road ground after Hamish Rutherford (86) and Tom Cullen (58*) had starred with the bat for Glamorgan as the visitors amassed 295-6. Despite half-centuries from Ben Curran and Tom Taylor, Northants were pegged back by a typically new ball spell from Michael Hogan (3/26) before Joe Cooke (3/32) filleted the lower order to clinch a deserved victory by 59 runs.

Glamorgan’s previous victory in List A cricket against the East Midlands side had been at Northampton during August 2008 when the Welsh county won a 40-over contest after Tom Maynard had struck a forthright 46, before some probing bowling by James Harris, Alex Wharf and Dean Cosker contained the home batsmen.
In all, Glamorgan have met Northamptonshire 49 times in List A cricket, with the Welsh county winning on 29 occasions and losing 18 times. Amongst the highlights have been Glamorgan’s total of 266-6 in the televised contest at Wellingborough School in 1975 when Majid Khan struck a remarkable 22-ball fifty as well as the match during 2004 when Matthew Maynard blasted 117 at Northampton.
