West Indies flamboyant all-rounder Andre Russell once again made headlines. This time by hitting 6 sixes in a row against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the inaugural 6IXTY tournament. The Trinbago Knight Riders batter scored a scintillating knock of 72 runs in 24 balls, helping his side win the match by 3 runs.
Andre Russell has been in the news for skipping national duties and playing leagues. West Indies Head Coach Phil Simmons also mentioned that they canโt beg someone to play for the national team.
It looks like the West Indies Cricket Team has some serious issues within the team as a lot of players have made themselves unavailable that too when the ICC T20 World Cup is door steps away. To add more to that, West Indies are set to play Qualifiers in ICC T20 World Cup 2022 which is not a good sign for the two-time World Champions.
Andre Russell in beast mode
The all-rounder was seen showing no mercy to St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots bowlers. The batter was ultra-aggressive in his approach. The World Cricket has often seen a calm & composed Russell who is quite ominous on his day. The batter in an interview said that he has the desire to represent West Indies again; if the batter continues producing such performances then it would be tough for selectors to ignore him.

Andre Russell hopeful for a turnaround
Andre Russell has an unwanted rift within West Indies Cricket Board. He has not played a single T20I match since ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Recently, he was seen playing in The Hundred tournament and was having a good time in the middle. The batter has shown his calibre at the top of the order. The way he disseminated the bowlers was a wake-up call for the opposition teams of the CPL.
West Indies Cricket Team has only 2 T20Is left before they play the Qualifiers. It looks like the selectors would ignore him as giving him a place in the playing 11 would send the wrong message to the other hard-working individuals. Nicholas Pooran would want a team that can avoid the embarrassment otherwise bowing out before the main tournament would hurt them a lot.
