The Aggies finished in sixth place against the 24-team field as they posted a 54-hole team score of 5-over 869 (287-290-292). Colorado State led wire to wire and ran away with a 25-stroke victory. The Rams finished at 30-under 834.
Colorado took second (859, -5), San José State and New Mexico State tied for third (861, -7), and Wofford (868, +4) rounded out the top-five teams.
Utah State sophomore Esteban Jaramillo fired a 2-under 70 on Sunday and finished in fifth place, matching his career-best placing. His round included four birdies on the par-72 course that measured 7,541 yards. He finished the tourney at 5-under 211 for his career-best 54-hole score.
The native of Bogota, Colombia, finished with 15 birdies for the tournament to tie for third in the field of 120 golfers. Jaramillo played the par-3 holes at 1-under, which tied for second.
Competing in his first tournament as an Aggie, sophomore Nathan Preslar tied for 31st at 2-over 218. He shot a 1-under 71 on the final day. Junior Javier Vazquez tied for 51st at 7-over 223, while junior John Cook and sophomore Luis Gerardo Cantu tied for 63rd at 9-over 225.
Colorado State’s Connor Jones captured individual medalist honors at 13-under 203, while his teammate, Davis Bryant, finished second at 12-under 204.
Utah State returns to action Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 19-20, at the Valpo Fall Invitational at Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton, Indiana.
