FAIRMONT — Berkeley Springs shot a round of 305 to finish seventh in the Class AA, Region I golf tournament at the Green Hills Country Club on Monday.
Keyser won the nine-team tournament with 253 and Fairmont was second with 257. Drew Matlick, of Keyser, shot 80 to win by one stroke over Fairmont’s Logan Huffman.
Despite their position, Indians coach Dale McCumbee was happy with some of the results.
Dakota Hamrick shot 92, Chance Swink 104, Truly Henry 109 and Eligah Parsell 122.
McCumbee pointed out how Swink, a first-year senior, shot 130 in his first match and that Hamrick shot “one of his better rounds.”

PSAC honors Bagent, Brown
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Senior quarterback Tyson Bagent and junior running back/return specialist Ronnie Brown, of Shepherd, earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference weekly honors, garnered PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week honors, while Brown was named PSAC East Special Teams Athlete of the Week.
Bagent continued his impressive start to 2022 with a huge performance against Eastern Division rival Kutztown. Bagent completed 30 of 41 passes for 456 yards and three touchdowns in Shepherd’s 42-35 win. He also ran for a score.
Brown helped Shepherd in a huge way in the win over Kutztown. His 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown allowed Shepherd to cut the Kutztown lead to 21-14 with 8:26 left in the second quarter.
Bagent has won offensive honors for the third time in four weeks. Brown won the offensive award the week Bagent didn’t.
Bagent is leading the nation in passing yards.
Rams ranked fourth
Shepherd moved up one place to fourth in the American Football Coaches Association poll.
The Rams (4-0) travel to Shippensburg this week.
In the NCAA.com power poll, Shepherd is ranked third.
MEC honors Bowie
BRIDGEPORT — Concord’s Jarod Bowie was honored as the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Bowie, a junior wide receiver from Martinsburg, hauled in 13 receptions for a career-high 221 yards in Concord’s 23-22 win over Frostburg State on Saturday in a clash of undefeated teams.
He also caught a 31-yard touchdown pass as time expired in the second quarter. In addition to setting a career-high in yards, Bowie finished just two receptions below his career-high on Saturday.
Bowie has now caught a touchdown pass in four-consecutive games and he is the only receiver in NCAA Division II to have multiple 200-yard games this season.
Bowie ranks third nationally in receiving yards and receiving yards per game. Shepherd’s Marlon Cook is first nationally in both categories.

PSAC honors Hohn
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Shepherd senior forward/midfielder Sara Hohn has been named PSAC East Offensive Athlete of the Week.
Hohn had two goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Rams. She scored two goals, including the game-winner, in Shepherd’s 4-3 win over Mansfield. She added an assist in a 2-1 win over Lock Haven.
Hohn has three game-winning goals this season.
COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL
PSAC honors Moreno
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — Freshman middle blocker Riley Moreno, of the Shepherd volleyball team, has been named PSAC East Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Moreno helped lead the Rams to a 1-1 week. She had nine blocks and four kills in a five-set loss to East Stroudsburg on Friday. She added five more blocks (one solo) in a three-set win over Kutztown on Saturday.
