CARY, N.C. – Alabama women’s tennis players Petra Sedlackova and Ola Pitak recorded wins on Monday at the ITA All-American Championships. Sedlackova won her singles match in the qualifying Round of 64, while Sedlackova and Pitak secured a win in the consolation round in doubles.
Sedlackova beat UCLA’s Ava Catanzarite to advance to Tuesday’s Round of 32. The UA sophomore fought through an opening-set tiebreaker at 7-6 (4), before battling her way to a 6-4 win in the second set.
After falling in the qualifying round to Massachusetts’ Danielle Hack and Thamopan Jonglertakul, Sedlackova and Pitak rallied in the consolation doubles bracket. The Alabama pair recorded a win over Maria Martinez Vaquero and Rita Colyer of San Francisco, going 8-3 for the victory.
Additionally, Loudmilla Bencheikh competed in the qualifying Round of 64 of singles, going head-to-head with Old Dominion’s Tatsiana Sasnouskay. Bencheikh fell 6-3, 6-4 in the match.

Sedlackova advanced to Tuesday’s Round of 32 where she will face Arizona State’s Domenika Turkovic at 9 a.m. CT. Loudmilla Bencheikh will compete in the consolation Round of 32 against Duke’s Brianna Shvets at 11 a.m., while the doubles team of Sedlackova and Pitak received a bye for their next match. The two will compete in the consolation Round of 16 against Vanderbilt’s Celia-Belle Mohr and Bridget Stammel.
