The Sabres will continue their four-game road trip tonight in Calgary. Faceoff against the Flames from Scotiabank Saddledome is at 9:30 p.m. on MSG and WGR 550 with pregame coverage starting at 9 on MSG.
Here are some of @SabresPR’s top notes heading into the game:
• This is the first of two meetings between the Sabres and Flames this season.
• Last meeting: Buffalo defeated Calgary 1-0 in overtime in Calgary on March 18, 2022
• Next meeting: Saturday, Feb. 11 in Buffalo
• The Sabres are 4-3-3 in their last 10 games against the Flames; 3-6-1 on the road.
• This is the 114th game all-time between Buffalo and Calgary; Buffalo has a 54-39-20 series record.
• The Sabres are 21-24-12 on the road against the Flames all-time.
• Rasmus Dahlin and JJ Peterka have each recorded a point in each of the team’s first three games.
• Peterka is one of four rookies in Sabres history to open a season with a point in each of the first three games (Tyler Ennis, 2010; Calle Johansson, 1987; Victor Olofsson, 2019).
• Olofsson (four games) is the only Sabres rookie to open a season with a point in each of the first four or more games of the season.
• Olofsson has recorded three points (1+2) in three career games against the Flames.
• Dahlin leads the Sabres in goals (3), points (4), plus/minus (+5) and shots (13).
• According to NHL Stats, a goal from Dahlin tonight would give him sole possession of the longest season-opening goal streak by a defenseman in NHL history (four games).
• A goal in tonight’s game would make Dahlin the second defenseman in Sabres history, and the first since Phil Housley (Nov. 22 to 30, 1988), to record a four-game goal streak.
• Entering play on Wednesday, Dahlin ranked among the league leaders in goals by a defenseman (3, T-1st), points by a defenseman (4, T-3rd), shots (13, T-5th) and time on ice per game (24:29, T-13th).
• Eric Comrie made a career-high 46 saves against the Oilers in Edmonton on Oct. 18, more than any other Sabres goaltender in their road debut with Buffalo.
• The previous record was 42, held by Ty Conklin (March 15, 2007 at Florida) and Michal Neuvirth (March 7, 2014 at Florida).
• Comrie’s 46 saves marked the highest total by a Sabres goaltender since Carter Hutton notched a 47-save shutout on Oct. 17, 2019 at Los Angeles.
• In his career, Comrie is 5-2-1 with a save percentage of .915 and a goals-against average of 2.61 in eight games against Pacific Division opponents.
• When Dylan Cozens and Peterka are both on the ice for Buffalo, the Sabres high danger scoring chances for percentage is 62.50 and their scoring chances for percentage is 58.33.
• At 5-on-5, Buffalo’s corsi for percentage is 57.89 with Peterka on the ice, which represents the best total on the team.
• The Sabres have not allowed an even-strength goal in 2022-23 when Zemgus Girgensons and Kyle Okposo have both been on the ice, despite just two out of 28 total faceoffs taking place in the offensive zone.
