Storm surge?
More like a surge back against the storm.
The Flames trailed 2-0 in the first period but scored the next three – including the overtime winner – to rally and grab two points, beating the visiting Hurricanes 3-2 at the Scotiabank Saddledome Saturday night.

Tyler Toffoli was the hero on the night, taking a pass from Rasmus Andersson and beating Antti Raanta with 30 seconds to go in extra time.
Andersson skated pretty much end-to-end, beating two ‘Canes along the boards to set up the winner.
Nazem Kadri and Brett Ritchie also scored, with Kadri named the No.-1 Star of the Game.
Jacob Markstrom finished with 25 saves on 27 shots, while Raanta turned aside 29 of the 32 pucks that came his way.
With the win, the Flames improved to 4-1-0 on the season.
Bench boss Darryl Sutter coached his 1,402nd NHL, moving him past Ron Wilson for the ninth most in league history.
A turnover led to Carolina opening the scoring 1:44 in when Sebastien Aho drove in and across the crease, slipping a backhander five-hole past Markstrom.
The visitors went up by a pair following some prolonged pressure in the Calgary zone when Calvin de Haan’s shot found twine at 10:28.
Kadri tied the game up on the powerplay at 13:31 when he rifled one shortside, Toffoli and Andersson getting the helpers.
With that assist, Andersson became the 15th Flames defenceman to post 100 assists in his career with the franchise.

Ritchie knotted the game up at 2:31 of the first period, firing a puck from the goalline out near the boards that found a hole shortside past Raanta for his second of the season.
He told Flames TV‘s Brendan Parker during the second intermission that he heard Nikita Zadorov calling for the puck as he skated in on the backdoor and was trying to get the biscuit to him.
Dillon Dube and Kadri picked up the assists.

Brent Burns appeared to put the visitors up by one when he skated in from the point, took a pass and beat Markstrom gloveside with 7.4 seconds left in the middle stanza.
But the Flames challenged saying Aho was offside bringing the puck into the zone and after review, the officials overturned the call on the ice and it stayed 2-2 after 40 minutes.
The Flames dominated the frame, outshooting the Hurricanes 15-3.
Markstrom made an absolutely stellar save with 13:25 to go in the third, coming across to get a piece of a backdoor tip attempt by Jaccob Slavin who had snuck in all alone from the point and took a no-look, cross-ice pass from Aho. The puck went into the air and dropped in the crease but the Calgary ‘tender trapped it under him amid a pile up of bodies.
With just over six minutes to go, Blake Coleman was sent off for a high-sticking double minor but the Flames did a masterful job killing off the four-minute hole.
Then came Toffoli Time.
