Team India opener, KL Rahul’s position was subject to much speculation over his underwhelming form in recent times in the T20 World Cup 2022. Despite the slow start to the campaign, Rahul made it a point to pick up well and appears to be hitting the ball just well.
The right hander registered two back-to-back half centuries in his outings against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe that has handed team India and him, a huge boost ahead of the semi-finals. Former South Africa international, Kobus Olivier suggested that the batter’s form has come at the ‘right time’.
“He is a class player. He was always going to come good in this tournament and he has come good at the right time. In his last innings, he scored a fifty against Bangladesh, he has got it at the right time and is peaking for the semi-finals,” said Kobus on BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker.
He sets a platform for SKY: Kobus Olivier
Rahul managed to score 51 runs in the match against Zimbabwe and 50 runs off the Bangladesh fixture. The batter has slowly started to pick up his form and can prove to be a lethal component in the batting line up. Furthermore, Kobus stated that if the batter gets going, he could set a platform for Suryakumar Yadav to explode.
“I think he will be one of the batters that England bowler will work upon. The English bowling attack is phenomenal, they are one of the better bowling attacks with the pace. But they will definitely be going to sit down before Thursday and work out a strategy to get him off early. Because if he gets going, he sets a platform for SKY (Suryakumar Yadav) to come in and play the kind of shots he plays. So, Rahul has found form at the right time, a class player!” added Kobus.
