Texas businessman Jim McIngvale, better known by the nickname ‘Mattress Mack,’ isn’t just celebrating the Houston Astros’ MLB title, he’s also celebrating his massive sports betting payout.
McIngvale won $75M after placing $10M in bets on his favorite baseball team winning the 2022 World Series.
McIngvale’s winnings are believed to be the biggest sports betting payout in history, according to sports betting analytics firm Action Network.
The 71-year-old from Houston, TX, is a sort of local celebrity, known for his furniture retail chain, Gallery Furniture, and for his habit of placing large sports bets. He won approx $15M earlier this year when the University of Kansas won the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in April.
He’s also lost millions, too, like when he placed a bet of $3.2M on the Astros to win the 2021 World Series. The team ultimately lost to the Atlanta Braves in that series.
