- Texas’ high-scoring 2022 offense is closing in on single-season program records for GOALS (54 goals – needs four to break 2002 record of 57 goals), ASSISTS (58 assists – needs five to break 2004 record of 62 assists) and POINTS (166 points – needs seven to break 2002 & 2004 record of 172 points). UT has already broken the program mark for CORNER KICKS (165 corners – broke the 2003 record of 162 corners).
- Sophomore midfielder Trinity Byars is currently tied for FIRST in NCAA Division I in match-winning goals (seven) alongside Itala Gemelli (Dayton) and Riley Mattingly Parker (Alabama).
- Texas is currently on pace to register the best winning percentage in a single season in program history. At 15-2-4, the 2022 Longhorns own an .810 win percentage, while the school mark of .780 was set back in 2006 (18-4-3).
- Texas is currently making its 16th all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament (9-15-2 overall record) and will be appearing in second round action for the seventh time in program history and for the first time since 2017 in Durham, N.C. UT owns a 2-2-2 record in NCAA Second Round contests (tied in 2017 vs. Clemson, 1-1, 2OT, won 6-5 on PK’s).
- Texas trails its all-time series against Duke by a total of 1-3-0 overall and is 0-3-0 in Durham. During the most recent match-up in NCAA Third Round action in Durham back on Nov. 19, 2017, the Blue Devils prevailed over the Longhorns, 3-0. UT’s only series victory occurred in Austin back on Sept. 1, 2002, by a score of 2-1.
- Byars is setting quite a pace nationwide as the Richardson, Texas, native is currently ONE OF JUST TWO DIVISION I PLAYERS (Michelle Cooper – Duke) TO RANK IN THE NATIONAL TOP 19 FOR GOALS, ASSISTS AND POINTS. She’s second in the national stats in points (43), fifth in goals (17) and 19th in assists (nine). Byars is incredibly efficient as she’s scored on 47% of her shots on goal in 2022 (17 goals on 36 shots on frame).
- Sophomore midfielder Jilly Shimkin picked up her second nod of the season to Top Drawer Soccer’s National Team of the Week on Nov. 15. The Rockville Centre, N.Y., native scored a tone-setting, 12th minute goal off a free kick during Texas’ 3-1 NCAA First Round victory over Texas A&M.
- UT sophomore midfielder Lexi Missimo registered her 10th assist of the year at Oklahoma State. With that helper, the Southlake, Texas, native became just the third Texas player to register at least two double-digit assist seasons in program history, joining former All-Americans Kelly Wilson (2001, 2002, 2004) and Kati McBain (2000, 2002). Wiith 15 assists this year, Missimo has broken her own 2021 school single-season record.
- Byars recently posted a NINE-MATCH POINT-SCORING STREAK (ended against West Virginia at the Big 12 Championship). It was her second five-plus match point-scoring skein of 2022 and tied the school record of nine straight matches with a point established by Kelly Wilson back from Sept. 7-Oct. 14, 2001.
- The Longhorns currently rank FOURTH IN NCAA DIVISION I in total assists and FOURTH in assists-per-match (2.76) with 58 helpers over their first 21 contests. Individually, sophomore midfielder Lexi Missimo is tied for SECOND IN THE NATION in total assists (15) and is FIRST in assists-per-match (0.94), while sophomore forward Trinity Byars is tied for 19TH in assists (nine) and ranks 25TH in assists-per-match (0.45).
- The Longhorns also currently rate FOURTH IN NCAA DIVISION I in points (166), FIFTH in goals (54), 15TH in shots-per-match (18.48) & NINTH in scoring offense (2.57). Individually, sophomore forward Trinity Byars currently ranks SECOND IN NCAA DIVISION I in points (43) & FOURTH in points-per-match (2.15), FIFTH in total goals (17) & SIXTH in goals-per-match (0.85).
- With 17 goals this year, Byars established a new single-season record in the category, surpassing former All-American Kelly Wilson’s school mark of 16 goals set back in 2004.
