In a chat with the Tennis Channel, the former world number 1 spoke in detail about the legacy Serena and Federer have left behind after their long and illustrious careers. Here’s what he said.
“They both did it in their own way. Serena coming from Compton and opening tennis up to an entire country of minority girls and women. The impact she had. The way Roger went about his business. You don’t have to go and punch someone on the nose just because you are number one in the world, right?”

He further added, “They both went about in their own ways. With their own style. With their own personality. They were both very very greedy with Grand Slam titles. We are so lucky to have had them in the game of tennis. They made a 23-year-old career seem normal simultaneously. It was just crazy.”
