PHILADELPHIA – Following an abrupt ending to both the 2020 and 2021 spring season due to COVID-19 protocols, head coach Steve Mauro has announced the teams schedule for the spring of 2022. The team will be back in action for a 19-match season beginning on Jan. 22.
The Temple women’s tennis team will start their season on the road, traveling to Richmond, Va. to compete against American Athletic Conference opponent, ECU at the campus of VCU on Jan. 22.
The Cherry and White will then return home, preparing for a six game homestand that carries them through into the month of March. The team will host Saint Francis on Feb. 4 and Syracuse of Feb. 5 in the opening weekend, before taking on city foe, Villanova on Feb. 19, followed by Farleigh Dickinson University (Feb. 22) and Siena (Feb. 25). The Owls will close out the six game homestand with Monmouth on March 3.
The women will then take to the road, heading down to Florida to take on FAU on Mar. 5 and Keiser on Mar. 6 before returning a bit closer to home on Mar. 11 to take on Navy in Annapolis, Md.
The Owls will welcome Delaware for a home match on Mar. 17, before visiting Philadelphia opponent, Penn on Mar. 18 and Villanova yet again on Mar. 23.
As the month of March comes to a close, the Owls will host a series of five home matches before closing out the regular season on the road.
The five game homestand will start with Fordham (Mar. 26), followed by Morgan State (Mar. 30), Binghamton (Apr. 2), Drexel (Apr. 8), and Hofstra (Apr. 9).
With over a week off, the Owls will prepare to wrap up the regular season with one more road match, heading to Oklahoma to take on conference opponent, Tulsa on Apr. 17.
The American Athletic Conference Championship will be held just four days later in Tulsa, Okla. from April 21-24.
