SEATTLE — The Seattle Kraken had 18 shots on goal in losing their ninth straight game, 3-1 to the Los Angeles Kings at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday.
Adrian Kempe scored his 17th goal to set his NHL career high, and Philip Danault scored twice for the Kings (20-13-5), who have won four in a row and eight of 11. Cal Petersen made 17 saves to win his third in a row.
Chris Driedger made 19 saves making his second straight start for the Kraken (10-23-4), who haven’t won since Dec. 14.
The Kings look a 1-0 lead when Kempe scored at 4:06 of the first period. Alex Iafallo‘s shot rebounded off Driedger. and Kempe corralled the puck with his skate and knocked it in to extend his point streak to four games. Kempe’s previous NHL high was 16 goals in 81 games in 2017-18.
Danault made it 2-0 at 4:10 of the second period when he scored off a rebound of Mikey Anderson‘s shot.
Seattle got within 2-1 at 10:49 on a power-play goal by Marcus Johansson.
Danault scored an empty-net goal at 19:15 of the third period for the 3-1 final.
