EVERETT — The Golf Ladies at Down River Golf Course held their fourth annual Girls Day Out golf tournament on July 17 to benefit Girls Night Out Altoona Inc.
Juls Bratton,GNO president, and Linda Filby, GNO committee member, accepted a check for $7,016.82 from the event.
The golf tournament results were:
First flight:
First place (59) — Deb Claar, Allison Aston, Ginny Vanneman and Patty Nellis.
Second place (60) tie card off — Loane Maier, Anna Myers, Suz Price and Deb Showalter.
Second flight
First place (66) — Cathy Beam, Carol Laich, Denene Litz, and Becky Majors
Second place (67) — Judy Post, Belinda Zauzig, Deb Goodman, and Kellie Earnest
Third flight
First place (65) — Sandy Murphy, Carol Young, Connie Angeski and Brenda Flick.
Second place (67) — Suzy Pawuk, Joan LaSalle, Susie Villa and Kirsten LaSalle.
Closest to the pin winners — Genny Vannenam, Wava Baer, Gwen Paden and Loane Maier.
“A huge thank-you goes out to everyone who donated, bought raffle tickets and came to golf at this event. We couldn’t do it without you,” said Darlene Reighard on behalf of the Golf Ladies at Down River.
With this donation the Golf Ladies at Down River Golf Course have donated more than $17,000 to Girls Night Out Altoona.
The four facilities that GNO Altoona supports are: Joyce Murtha Breast Care Center in Windber (pink pledge program), Magee Women’s Specialty Services at UPMC Altoona (patient voucher program), the Women’s Breast Cancer Center & Women’s Health Institute at Tyrone Hospital (patient voucher program) and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center to Dr. Craig Meyer’s Breast Cancer Research Program.
Next year’s tournament will be held July 16, 2022, at Down River Golf Course in Everett.
