French crowd favourite Gael Monfils has grabbed the first set in his second-round match against Kazakhstani Alexander Bublik.
Monfils displayed his colourful best in the first set of the Margaret Court Arena clash, at one point pulling off an incredible ‘tweener’ en route to winning it 6-1.
“Oh, here we go! What a point,” said American tennis player Nicholas Monroe on Nine’s Wide World of Sports.
“There is the athleticism, the exhibition tennis from Monfils.”
Former British tennis player Mark Petchey added: “This is scandalous from Gael Monfils!”.
