Premier League rule change which will affect Liverpool could soon be introduced
The Premier League is reportedly considering changing its guidance on match postponements amid countless controversial decisions in recent weeks.
There have been 21 games called off in the English top-flight since December as clubs feel the force of the Omicron variant, leading squads bare and fans frustrated.
But despite Covid causing issues, there has been a feeling that some clubs have taken advantage of the rules.
Currently, clubs are eligible to submit a postponement request if they do not have 13 available outfield players, and one goalkeeper, either from its squad list or its appropriately experienced under-21 players.
In response to the government decision to relax Plan B rules, however, the Premier League are now set to debate rule changes of their own.
It is understood that a Premier League meeting will be called after this weekend’s fixtures to discuss potential revisions, which are anticipated to be in place by February 8.
