BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Women’s Golf Head Coach Kailin Downs announced the signing of Leia Chung to a National Letter of Intent Wednesday. Chung will join the Broncos in fall 2022.
“Leia is a great addition to our program,” said Downs. “She is a proven junior player with many competitive rounds under par. Her short game and ability to get the ball in the hole lead to solid scores and that will create a lot of success at the collegiate level.”
The Wahiawa, Hawaii native captured three Hawaii State Junior Golf Association (HSJGA) titles, winning the Dave and Buster’s Classic in 2019 and the Michelle Wie Tournament of Champions in both 2019 and 2021. She also garnered a Hawaii State Golf Association (HSGA) title, tying for first in the 2021 U.S. Girls Junior Qualifier, firing 1-under par.
During her high school career representing Leilehua, Chung won the Oahu Interscholastic Association (OIA) Regionals and was crowned the state champion as a freshman in 2019. Due to COVID-19, she was unable to compete as a sophomore, but played in eight tournaments her junior year, winning six.
Chung joins Annie Buffolino and Macee Greenwood in Downs’ inaugural signing class at Boise State.
