One night ago, the Hornets were “limited” to 113 points in a loss to the Raptors, with a 10-for-31 showing from 3-point range largely keeping their offense in check.
Wednesday night, the 3s fell — and with them, records aplenty:
The Hornets shot 24-for-45 (53.3%) on 3s and 58% overall as they absolutely crushed the Pacers 158-126. The scoreline represents both the most points ever scored by the Hornets (since 1989) and allowed by the Pacers (since the NBA-ABA merger in 1976). It also included the most points scored by any team in the second half (87) since January 1991.
Charlotte blew away its previous high of 143, set against the Rockets in an overtime loss on November 27.
Kelly Oubre Jr. came off the bench to tie the franchise’s single-game high with 10 3-pointers, as well enter a third-place tie for most 3s hit by a reserve (Donyell Marshall’s 12 on March 13, 2005 is the benchmark). He finished with 39 points on 12-for-18 FGs (10-for-15 3Ps), also pitching in five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
With 29 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists, LaMelo Ball logged his fifth triple-double in a season-plus, four coming during the current campaign. That leaves him tied for second in franchise history — just two behind former point-forward Anthony Mason — and the second-youngest player to drop five in the career ledger.
.@hornets G LaMelo Ball totaled 29 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds for his fifth career triple-double. At 20 years and 157 days old, he is the second youngest player in @NBA history to reach their fifth career triple-double.#AllFly

Ball’s triple-double tonight at IND was his fourth this season. He is tied with Mason (4, 1996-97) for the most triple-doubles in a single season in @hornets franchise history.#AllFly https://t.co/C4BRYTJIW1
