ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia soccer head coach Keidane McAlpine rounded out his coaching staff Friday afternoon with the additions of veteran coaches Kelly Dormandy and Kat Crump.
Dormandy will serve as the Director of Sports Performance, and Crump will serve as the Volunteer Assistant Coach and oversee the team’s goalkeepers. Dormandy and Crump join associate head coach Jason Lockhart and assistant coach Sammy Towne, who were previously announced to the staff.
Dormandy comes to Georgia from Loyola Marymount, where she served as the Associate Athletics Director for Sports Performance since 2021. She had previously joined LMU in 2018 as an Assistant Athletics Director for Strength and Conditioning. In her role, she oversaw sports performance for the baseball, volleyball, beach volleyball, women’s basketball, and golf. Prior to LMU, she was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at USC from 2012-2018, helping Coach McAlpine win the 2016 NCAA women’s soccer championship and helping mold the 2016 and 2017 beach volleyball teams to national champions as well.
Dormandy also served as the head strength and conditioning coach for the Los Angeles Sparks from 2015-18, helping the Sparks win the 2016 WNBA championship. She also served as a strength coach at Maryland and South Carolina, as well as a graduate assistant at Springfield College. She played collegiate soccer at Maryland and Quinnipiac, graduating from the latter in 2008 with a degree in Business Marketing. She is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and owns a USA Weightlifting Level 1 certification.
Crump joins the Georgia staff after four seasons as an assistant coach at Furman. In the 2020-21 season, Crump coached goalkeeper Addison Corn to the United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team and the Southern Conference All-Freshman Team as the Paladins finished 8-1-2 and reached the NCAA Tournament. The Paladins posted a winning record in each of her four seasons, with goalkeeper Kellsey Weaver also earning All-SoCon honors in 2019.
Prior to Furman, Crump served as an assistant coach at Jacksonville in 2017 and worked with the goalkeepers for Jacksonville Armada FC. The Huntsville, Alabama native played collegiately at Regis University in Denver, Colorado, starting 60 games in goal and posting 35 wins, a 1.15 goals against average, and 19 shutouts for the Rangers. She also coached with multiple club programs in the Denver area during her collegiate career. She graduated from Regis in 2017 with a degree in Health and Exercise Science.
With its full coaching staff now in tow, the Georgia soccer program turns its attention toward the offseason training period and a series of exhibition matches later in the spring. The complete spring exhibition schedule will be released in the coming weeks.
