HOKIES
Virginia Tech started its season with two setbacks against Michigan State and No. 17 Michigan. Despite struggling down the stretch in singles, the Hokies have claimed both doubles points. Jordan Chrysostom and Ryan Fishback earned a ranked win over the No. 43 duo from Michigan, while Alvaro Saez-Royuela Ariza and Scott Sculley, and Alberto Orso and Carlo Donato, are 2-0 on the season. No. 78 Ryan Fishback has started his season out 2-0 with a pair of two-set victories on Court 1.
USF
The Bulls opened their season on Friday with a 4-3 loss to Georgia State. After dropping the doubles point, Antonio Muniz, Sergio Gomez Montesa and Alvin Tudorica picked up wins in singles, but dropping matches on Court 1, 2 and 4 proved to be too much of a dagger for USF.
GEORGIA
Georgia’s lineup consists of five ranked singles players: No 23 Philip Henning, No. 32 Hamish Stewart, No. 62 Trent Bryde, No. 112 Blake Croyder and No. 119 Thomas Paulsell. In doubles, they have the No. 21 duo of Bryde and Henning.
The Bulldogs opened their season with a 6-1 win against No. 11 UCF, which saw Bryde pick up a ranked win on Court 1.
VCU
VCU enters the weekend at 1-1 after splitting matches against Temple and Columbia. No. 98 Inigo Torre Martin is 1-1 on the season playing on Court 3, while the Rams’ No. 59-ranked double duo of brothers Charles and Maxence Bertimon is 2-0 on Court 2.
