Andy Murray is set to trial a new coach for the Rotterdam Open, a last-minute change of plans as his next tournament after the Australian Open was set to be in Doha, after he split with his trainer at the season opening Grand Slam.
The former British No 1 made a promising start to the season after he reached the final of the Sydney Tennis Classic, but he only managed to make it to the second round of the ‘Happy Slam’ before he was defeated in straight sets by Taro Daniels from Japan.
At the end of last season, the Scot split with his long term coach Jaime Delgado who went on to train with Denis Shapovalov who won the ATP Cup with Canada, before he started a trial period with Jan de Witt who has the likes of Gael Monfils and Gilles Simon on his coaching CV.
We understand that Andy Murray will have Dani Vallverdu with him in Rotterdam, and for a few weeks.
Vallverdu continues to work with Stan Wawrinka, who is building back to fitness.

De Witt started training with Murray in December at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship exhibition event and then went on to travel with him to Australia, but the Brit’s early exit in the major tournament brought their coaching relationship to an end.
The search for a new coach continues for the former world No 1, however according to The Tennis Podcast, Venezuelan Dani Vallverdu will be with him in Rotterdam, which he received a wildcard for.
Vallverdu previously worked with Murray between 2010-14 after meeting at the Sanchez-Casal Barcelona Tennis Academy when the two time Wimbledon winner was just 15 years old.
More recently the coach has been training with three time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka from Switzerland who could be making a return to the court after nearly a year out due to a foot injury.
Even with Vallverdu on his coaching team, Murray will have a tight turnaround to fit his next three tournaments in as the Rotterdam Open takes place between February 6 – 14, while the Doha ATP 250 starts on February 14 and the Dubai ATP 500 kicks off just a week later.
