The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed right wing Emil Bemstrom on the National Hockey League’s COVID-19 protocol list and added right wing Trey Fix-Wolansky to the roster on emergency recall from the Cleveland Monsters, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
Bemstrom, 22, has recorded two goals and two assists for four points with two penalty minutes, one game-winning goal and 22 shots, while averaging 10:05 of ice time in 13 games with the Blue Jackets this season. The 6-0, 193-pound forward has posted 15-14-29 with 10 penalty minutes, six power play goals, five game-winners and 147 shots in 89 career games since making his NHL debut in 2019-20. A native of Nykoping, Sweden, Bemstrom was selected by the Blue Jackets in the fourth round, 117th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft.
Fix-Wolansky, 22, has notched 9-8-17 with 15 penalty minutes, one power play goal, two game-winning goals and 60 shots in 22 contests with the Monsters this season. He leads the club in points-per-game (.77) and ranks second in goals and sixth-T in points. The 5-7, 186-pound forward has totaled 25-27-52 with 49 PIM, 10 PPG, six GWG and 174 shots in 74 regular season AHL appearances with the Monsters since making his professional debut in the 2019 Calder Cup playoffs.
The Edmonton, Alberta native was selected by Columbus in the seventh round, 204th overall, at the 2017 NHL Draft. He racked up 93-152-245, 202 PIM, 39 PPG and 13 GWG in 206 career games with the Edmonton Oil Kings in the Western Hockey League from 2016-19. He was named the WHL’s Eastern Conference Player of the Year and to the conference’s First All-Star Team after finishing second-T in the league in assists and fourth-T in points with 37-65-102 in 65 games in his final campaign in 2018-19.
