Simona Halep says she is enjoying being without a coach and she is not looking to add one. Last year, Halep split with her coach of six years Darren Cahill. After splitting with Cahill, Halep added Adrian Marcu and Daniel Dobre to her coaching staff.
After the Australian Open, Halep fired both coaches. “I don’t have a coach right now, I have a sparring partner and he’s travelling with me these days. I didn’t make a decision about the coaching. I’m not looking for a coach, I’m just enjoying my time alone and hopefully, I can do a good job,” Halep said in Dubai, per Tennis Up To Date.
Halep wants to do things on her own
“I feel a little bit of freedom, so I think I have to enjoy this moment,” Halep admitted. On Monday, Halep made a winning start in Dubai as she beat Alison Riske 6-2 6-4. “It’s pretty special to play again here.
I have great memories here, and winning two times makes it very special… I have some family in the crowd so I’m really happy to be fit and to play some good tennis. I was focused, I did everything that I had to do, and I’m happy to go through,” Halep added.
Halep feels she has learned a lot during her time with Cahill and she can now do things on her own. “All the advice that Darren Cahill gave me during our six years together, I will put into practice in this new stage, in which I feel very relaxed, without pressure.
Now I want to discover things by myself, develop myself as a person. I have a lot of ideas and now I know how I should handle this situation,” Halep told Treizecizero. Meanwhile, Halep is aiming to win her third Dubai title. Halep won Dubai in 2015 and 2020.
