By Sean Jones: Legendary trainer Nacho Beristain says he’s not impressed with what he’s seen from Canelo Alvarez in his fights, and he doesn’t see him as the greatest Mexican fighter of all time. Like many people, Beristain is unmoved by the opposition that Canelo (57-1-2, 39 KOs) has been facing. He’s never in any fights viewed as 50-50 match-ups or even 60-40. Canelo is fighting guys that have no chance of beating him, and the reason for that is he’s picking weaker opposition. Yeah, they were champions, but in name only. While it’s been a long journey aboard the Trotter train, Aaron Trotter is finally seeing his dreams come to fruition. The 20-year-old Langford-born hockey goaltender has dreamt of playing NCAA hockey since he first laced up his skates. Success on the ice took hard work – Trotter sent video reels to every B.C. Hockey League team trying to get recruited. The work paid off, after playing a strong first season goaltending for the Prince George Spruce Kings in the BC Hockey League — he committed to the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota and was offered a full scholarship. My question is about this QB class, with the lack of top-end talent to go in the top 5-10 picks, will we see a back end of the first run on QBs? Teams like the Saints, Broncos, Steelers, Lions (Rams pick), and even the Colts or Bucs (will Brady ever retire lol) should/could be in the market for a QB, and the fifth-year option keeps it a team-friendly deal for that extra year. — Tom D.Definitely a fair question and a realistic scenario. Quarterback desperation is a real thing. And the truth is, not every general manager has the job…

David ‘The Deflector” Vanterpool? The Nets assistant coach and the team are apparently “under investigation” for Vanterpool’s deflection of Wizards pass at the 5:45 mark of the fourth quarter vs. Washington. The deflection was not caught by any of the game’s three refs but YES Network cameras showed clearly Vanterpool’s had striking the ball. Kristian Winfield of the Daily News broke the story Thursday. The NBA is investigating a live-ball interference between Nets assistant coach David Vanterpool and a pass from Washington Wizards’ Spencer Dinwiddie on Wednesday. The expectation is that the league comes to a decision in the next…
Getty Images As racers all across the country know only too well, the best-laid plans in auto racing are only as good as the amount of money that’s behind them.
